Laura B. Maberry
I became a therapist because…
I saw how much therapy helped my family through a time of turmoil and mental health challenges. I am a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF) based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. This means I am passionate about helping clients become aware of the feeling of shame and learn skills to move through it towards a more whole-hearted life. A whole-hearted life means living in a vulnerable way that leads to more connection with family, friends, and others. I want my clients to develop a strong sense of self where their worthiness and belonging is not up for negotiation. I get joy out of teaching people about vulnerability and seeing the connection between their mind, body, and spirit. I believe therapy is a first step in self-care and beginning with self-care is the starting point to making the world a better, braver place. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have been a therapist since 2007 working with adolescents, college and graduate students, post-partum women and individual adults. I have an M.A. in Community Counseling and have done significant coursework through the Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas (PECC).
